Photographer – Communications & Media Relations

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a professional Photographer to support its Communication and Media Relations Section. The incumbent will create high‑quality visual content that enhances the organization’s visibility, documents events, and reinforces branding across publications and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute photographic coverage of conferences, high‑level meetings, and official events, often under tight timelines.
• Apply advanced photographic techniques to ensure optimal composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
• Edit and process digital images using specialized software, performing colour correction, enhancement, and formatting to meet organizational standards.
• Prepare accurate captions, verify names and titles, and manage systematic archiving of images.
• Collaborate with event focal points, adapt coverage to evolving dynamics, and deliver curated image selections for publications, web platforms, and official use.

Required profile

• Proven experience in professional photography, preferably in an international or institutional setting.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Strong visual storytelling skills and familiarity with branding and communication guidelines.
• Excellent organizational skills for managing large image libraries and metadata.
