Program Communications Specialist

About the role

The Program Communications Specialist will lead the creation and delivery of communication strategies that showcase the impact of our eye‑health programmes and raise awareness of preventable blindness. Working within a full‑time, hybrid model, you will translate complex public‑health data into clear, compelling stories for donors, partners, governments and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with programme goals.
• Collaborate with programme and technical teams to turn public‑health information into audience‑focused messages.
• Produce impact communications, factsheets, success stories and digital content.
• Manage media relations, coordinate campaigns, events and ensure consistent branding across all platforms.
• Maintain a library of multimedia assets and oversee their appropriate use.

Required profile

• Strong storytelling, content‑creation and editing abilities.
• Solid understanding of public‑health issues and community‑based programming.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Amharic or Oromiffa is a plus.
