Program Director Ethiopia

About the role

CARE Ethiopia is seeking an experienced Program Director to lead a diverse portfolio of humanitarian and development initiatives. The role combines strategic vision, resource mobilization, and gender‑focused program design to drive measurable impact for vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and implement CARE’s country strategy into high‑quality, locally relevant programs.
• Lead a team of Project/Program Managers and Senior Program Managers, establishing systems and culture for excellent delivery.
• Mobilize resources and build partnerships to secure funding and technical support.
• Ensure gender equality and social justice are embedded across program design, implementation, and learning.
• Oversee both humanitarian response and long‑term development interventions, addressing immediate needs and underlying causes of poverty.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development programming.
• Strong track record of resource mobilization and partnership building.
• Deep commitment to women’s and girls’ empowerment and gender‑responsive programming.
• Ability to navigate complex operating environments and drive results at scale.
