Programme Associate (G-6) – Temporary, 6 months – Addis Ababa

About the role

The UNICEF Education Programme in Ethiopia is seeking a Programme Associate (G‑6) on a six‑month fixed‑term contract in Addis Ababa. The incumbent will support the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) System Transformation of Education Programme (STEP) for Girls and Learning, contributing to the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of education activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the GPE Programme Manager and Education Manager in preparing work plans, budgets and progress reports for the STEP programme.
• Collect, analyse and validate programme data, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors and internal stakeholders.
• Track budget expenditures, support financial reconciliations and prepare cost‑effectiveness analyses.
• Coordinate with UNICEF units (Operations, Finance, Supply) and external partners such as ministries, NGOs and donors.
• Support procurement and supply management processes related to programme activities.
• Contribute to the preparation of monitoring and evaluation tools and documentation.

Required profile

• University degree in Education, International Development, Public Administration or a related field.
• At least 1‑2 years of experience in programme support, monitoring or reporting in an international development context.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
