About the role
The Programme Management Officer will support the Office of the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) by leading the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and operations within an assigned functional area. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the role ensures alignment with ECA’s strategic directions and institutional priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑level coordination and operational guidance on programme support across relevant ECA entities.
- Act as the senior focal point between the Office of the Chief of Staff and service providers such as administration, conference management, ICT, supply chain and human resources.
- Establish accountability frameworks and performance‑tracking mechanisms to monitor deliverables, service standards and operational risks.
- Develop, implement and evaluate assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct consulting assignments, facilitate workshops and assist clients in developing action plans for change management.
- Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources to inform programme decisions.
- Coordinate review and analysis of operational issues and trends, preparing evaluations and reports.
Required profile
- Proven experience in programme management, coordination and monitoring‑evaluation within an international or multilateral environment.
- Ability to liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing documents, identifying issues and proposing corrective actions.
- Experience in facilitating workshops and consulting assignments.
