Programme Officer – Return and Reintegration

About the role

The Programme Officer (Return and Reintegration) supports IOM’s Protection Unit in delivering humanitarian assistance to migrants and displaced persons. The role focuses on developing policy guidance, providing programme support to missions and ensuring effective implementation of return and reintegration initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update technical guidance and policy documents related to return and reintegration.
• Provide programme support and coordination to IOM missions implementing protection and assistance programmes.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of return and reintegration projects.
• Facilitate collaboration with governmental, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners.
• Contribute to data collection, research and knowledge‑sharing activities within the Protection Unit.

Required profile

• Qualified candidates, with a preference for female applicants.
• First‑tier candidates include internal staff and applicants from IOM Member States not currently represented in professional categories (as listed in the posting).
• Second‑tier candidates are all other external applicants.
