Project Director, Integrated Innovation Highway

About the role

The Project Director will lead the three‑year Integrated Innovation Highway initiative, a government‑owned platform that standardises health innovation across six corridors in Ethiopia. Embedded within the Ministry of Health, the role combines strategic vision, technical leadership and day‑to‑day programme management.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical spokesperson to the Ministry of Health and key government and partner stakeholders.
• Institutionalise the Highway framework within national and regional health governance structures.
• Design a sustainable financing roadmap integrating the Highway into national budgets, insurance schemes and multi‑donor frameworks.
• Oversee the three functional hubs: Data & Market Intelligence, Evaluation for Scale, and Transition to Scale.
• Lead implementation research, regulatory pathway development and costed rollout for AI‑enabled Point‑of‑Care Ultrasound (AI‑POCUS), TB Pluslife diagnostics and Ebola diagnostics.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in leading large‑scale health innovation programmes.
• Proven ability to work closely with government ministries and multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of health financing, regulatory processes and scale‑up pathways.
