Protection Assistant – GBV Caseworker

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Assistant specialized in gender‑based violence (GBV) casework for its Sanja operations in Ethiopia. Working under the supervision of the Protection Officer‑GBV and PCM Supervisor, you will provide confidential case management services to survivors and support the broader protection team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, confidential GBV case management in line with DRC SOPs and minimum service standards.
• Conduct referrals to appropriate services, follow up on action plans, and ensure timely case closure.
• Provide individual counselling and facilitate safe‑space group sessions for women and girls at risk or survivors of GBV.
• Record and store case data in the GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS) while respecting data‑sharing protocols.
• Support community‑based GBV trainings, identify gaps in response services, and report them to the GBV Officer.
• Maintain and regularly update case management databases and related trackers.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in GBV case management or humanitarian protection.
• Ability to work sensitively with survivors and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with community representatives.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry and reporting.
• Familiarity with GBVIMS or similar case management information systems.
