Protection Officer – GBV-CM & PCM Supervisor

About the role

The Protection Officer – GBV-CM & PCM Supervisor will oversee the quality and effectiveness of gender‑based violence (GBV) and protection case management services in Sanja, Ethiopia. Reporting to the Emergency Response Manager and working under the technical guidance of the Country Office Protection Coordinator, the role focuses on technical supervision, capacity building, and staff well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ongoing technical guidance and mentorship to GBV caseworkers and PCM assistants/officers, ensuring adherence to GBV case management principles and survivor‑centered approaches.
• Promote staff well‑being through supportive environments, regular debriefings, and reflective practices.
• Conduct weekly individual supervision sessions with each caseworker and PCM officer/assistant.
• Facilitate bi‑weekly case management team meetings for peer learning and case conferencing.
• Review case files bi‑weekly to ensure quality, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Assess capacity of GBV caseworkers and PCM staff, identify gaps, and develop targeted action plans.
• Develop monthly supervision plans with caseworkers to prioritize follow‑up and mentoring.
• Monitor data entry quality and ensure compliance with reporting and data protection protocols.
• Identify training needs, develop capacity‑building plans, and deliver training, coaching, and on‑the‑job support.

Required profile

• Qualified Protection Officer with experience in GBV and protection case management.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor case management staff.
• Experience in developing and delivering capacity‑building activities.
• Strong understanding of Inter‑Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines and survivor‑centered approaches.
