Protection Team Leader

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Team Leader to oversee protection activities at its Humera Field Office. Reporting to the Emergency Response Manager, the role ensures high‑quality, timely implementation of protection interventions, including GBV case management, psychosocial support, and community‑based protection.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on national and international protection standards.
• Lead the preparation of monthly protection reports and manage information hubs.
• Conduct protection and multisectoral assessments, develop service mapping and referral pathways.
• Design and deliver training on protection, referrals, PFA, and peace‑building.
• Support program development, proposal writing, and gender‑sensitive mainstreaming.
• Coordinate monitoring, evaluation, and documentation with MEAL staff.
• Collaborate with government authorities, local stakeholders, and humanitarian partners.

Required profile

• Relevant higher‑education degree or equivalent experience in protection, humanitarian assistance, or related fields.
• Proven experience managing protection programmes in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of GBV case management, psychosocial support, and community‑based protection.
• Ability to work under pressure, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and uphold humanitarian principles.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of protection standards and guidelines.
• Experience with protection reporting, service mapping, and referral systems.
• Capacity to develop and deliver training modules.
• Competence in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) processes.
