Senior Garment Technician

About the role

The Senior Garment Technician will lead technical development of garments from concept through production at Ras Apparel Manufacturing in Addis Ababa. This full‑time, on‑site role ensures that every piece meets the company’s quality standards and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Create, review and maintain technical specifications, size charts and construction details.
• Conduct fit sessions, evaluate samples and resolve technical issues.
• Provide clear guidance to pattern makers, sample rooms and production teams.
• Monitor production quality and collaborate with design, merchandising and QA teams.
• Train junior technicians and support process optimisation.
• Ensure compliance with international quality and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Textile Engineering, Garment Technology, Fashion Technology or related field.
• Several years of factory experience in a similar senior technical role.
• Experience in export‑oriented or large‑scale apparel manufacturing is an advantage.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and capacity to work under production deadlines.

Required skills

• Garment construction and pattern cutting.
• Fitting and creation of technical packs.
• Working with woven and knit fabrics and industrial sewing techniques.
• Quality control methods, measurement standards and tolerance levels.
• Apparel production workflow knowledge, including sampling to bulk production, lead times and capacity planning.
• Proficiency with pattern design or CAD systems and standard office applications.
