Senior Gender Advisor

About the role

World Vision is seeking a Senior Gender Advisor to lead gender‑focused technical work across the RESILIENT WE project in Ethiopia. The role will ensure gender integration, safeguard women and girls, and support community‑based empowerment initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the gender technical lead for project delivery, annual planning, implementation, and reporting.
• Review and validate gender‑related targets and indicators, advising the RESILIENCE WE team on strategies to exceed direct and indirect goals.
• Collaborate with the NEWA team on human‑rights and GBV safeguarding arrangements and review safeguarding tools for programme design.
• Lead the development and scaling of gender‑transformative approaches that create inclusive market opportunities for women and girls.
• Conduct capacity‑gap analyses and provide quality training to CBOs, FBOs, and other community organisations.
• Facilitate liaison with INGOs, LNGOs, and government representatives, representing gender in forums, task forces, and consortia.
• Monitor project progress jointly with thematic advisors and ensure scaling principles such as co‑learning, cost‑effectiveness, inclusiveness, climate‑smartness, sustainability, and scalability are mainstreamed.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (senior level) in gender integration within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Proven ability to lead technical gender work, develop indicators, and guide multi‑stakeholder partnerships.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, GBV, and human‑rights frameworks.
• Experience working with community‑based organisations and capacity‑building initiatives.
