Senior Project Associate (Capacity Building)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ethiopia is seeking a Senior Project Associate to lead capacity‑building and training initiatives within its Protection Unit. Reporting to the Senior Programme Officer (Protection) and the National Officer (Policy and Liaison), the incumbent will support both routine and specialized protection interventions across multiple sub‑units.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring capacity‑building activities under various projects.
• Conduct needs assessments for stakeholders and institutions to identify training gaps.
• Develop capacity‑building programmes and detailed work plans based on assessment findings.
• Design, organize and facilitate workshops on migrant protection, governance, and reintegration.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of training beneficiaries and related documentation.
• Support specialized protection tasks, including legal aid, legal identity verification, and natural resource management (NRM) activities.
• Collaborate closely with the Non‑Emergencies and Return & Reintegration sub‑units to ensure integrated service delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in capacity building, migration protection, or related humanitarian fields.
• Familiarity with rights‑based approaches and protection frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Strong coordination, reporting and communication skills.
