Senior Project Officer – Agribusiness (Crop & Horticulture)

About the role

The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute is seeking a Senior Project Officer to lead agribusiness initiatives in crop and horticulture. Based in Jijiga with hybrid work flexibility, the role focuses on designing, implementing and evaluating projects that boost value‑chain development and private‑sector participation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and oversee innovative agribusiness projects from concept to evaluation.
• Collaborate with government, research institutions, development partners and farmer groups to align project objectives.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and reporting to ensure delivery on schedule.
• Facilitate capacity‑building activities for partners and stakeholders.
• Identify market opportunities and support value‑chain enhancements.
• Generate analytical insights and evidence‑based recommendations for strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Rural Development or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of agribusiness, crop production and horticulture in Ethiopia.
• Proven experience in project management, implementation and monitoring.
• Demonstrated ability to work with public and private sector partners.
• Familiarity with Ethiopian agriculture policies and rural economic development is a plus.
• Fluency in English and local languages of the Jijiga region.
