Senior Technical Officer – Diagnostic Products Manufacturing

About the role

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is seeking a Senior Technical Officer to lead the strengthening of diagnostic product manufacturing across the continent. The role supports the African Diagnostics Manufacturing Strategy, focusing on validation, regulatory alignment, and market access for locally produced in‑vitro diagnostics.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the development, validation, and technology transfer of new diagnostic tests.
• Coordinate with manufacturers, National Regulatory Authorities, procurement agencies, and partners to accelerate product approval and market entry.
• Lead initiatives on GMP/QMS alignment and ISO 13485 certification readiness.
• Facilitate capacity‑building activities for local industry and support strategic partnerships.
• Implement the African Pooled Procurement Mechanism to include African‑made diagnostics.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in diagnostic product development, manufacturing, or regulatory affairs.
• Strong understanding of GMP, QMS, and ISO 13485 standards.
• Experience working with multinational stakeholders and public‑health programs.
