Senior Technical Officer – Therapeutics Manufacturing

About the role

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is seeking a Senior Technical Officer to lead technical support for therapeutics products manufacturing across African Union member states. The role focuses on strengthening GMP compliance, regulatory readiness, technology transfer and market access to boost self‑reliance in health product manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to manufacturers on GMP compliance, regulatory alignment and technology transfer.
• Conduct and coordinate manufacturing readiness assessments and support manufacturers in achieving regulatory approval.
• Facilitate coordination among national regulatory authorities, procurement agencies, partners and member states to accelerate product access.
• Develop strategic partnerships and commercialization pathways to enhance sustainability and competitiveness of African manufacturers.
• Support implementation of the African Pooled Procurement Mechanism and other Africa CDC initiatives related to therapeutics manufacturing.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience (minimum 7 years) in therapeutics manufacturing, GMP compliance and regulatory affairs.
• Proven track record in technology transfer, market shaping and investment facilitation within the health sector.
• Strong analytical, coordination and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
