Supply Chain Assistant – Humanitarian Logistics

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Supply Chain Assistant to support humanitarian logistics operations in Humera, Ethiopia. The role ensures compliance with DRC procedures and provides technical guidance to field supply chain activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure procurement processes align with the DRC Operations Handbook.
• Develop and maintain procurement databases and follow‑up processes.
• Prepare weekly and monthly status reports for programmes.
• Manage warehouse operations, including reporting and alerts to programme staff.
• Assist in recruitment, training and capacity building of the logistics team.
• Coordinate logistics involvement throughout the programme cycle.
• Procure goods and services, track orders, purchases and deliveries.
• Apply donor rules, oversee contracts and protect DRC interests.
• Optimize logistics operations for cost‑effectiveness and establish framework agreements.
• Conduct supplier due‑diligence and apply ERP supply‑chain processes.
• Oversee fleet and asset management, ensuring vehicle maintenance, documentation and compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–2 years experience in humanitarian logistics, supply chain, fleet or asset management.
• Experience working with service providers and contractors.
• High integrity, proactive and robust character; strong team player.
• Excellent communication, analytical and negotiation abilities.
• Previous experience in NGOs is essential.
