Technical Coordinator, HEP Assist AI – Ethiopia

About the role

Last Mile Health is seeking two Technical Coordinators to lead the implementation and clinical monitoring of the HEP Assist AI project in Ethiopia. The role bridges field operations, clinical safety, and government stakeholders to ensure safe, effective, and culturally adapted AI‑driven decision support for Health Extension Workers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage implementation schedules for the four‑stage AI rollout, supervising Health Extension Workers in selected woredas.
• Conduct clinical monitoring of live and recorded AI consultations, intervene when necessary, and ensure patient safety and protocol compliance.
• Oversee transcription, translation, and quality assurance of clinical content in Amharic and Afaan Oromo, providing feedback to improve speech‑based AI models.
• Coordinate data collection, IRB submissions, and quality checks, ensuring high‑quality research data.
• Maintain regular communication with Regional Health Bureaus, Zonal and Woreda Health Offices, preparing progress reports for internal and government partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing or Health Officer with a strong clinical background.
• Native or full professional fluency in Amharic and Afaan Oromo.
• Experience working within Ethiopia’s Health Extension Program and familiarity with CHIS and DHIS2.
• Ability to navigate stakeholder dynamics and resolve field‑level operational challenges.

Required skills

• Advanced use of MS Office applications.
• Proficiency with Google Suite.
• Experience with DHIS2 and Community Health Information System (CHIS).
