Technical Lead

About the role

The Technical Lead provides sector‑specific technical and thought leadership for World Vision Ethiopia. Reporting to the Technical Director, the role manages a team of Technical Specialists, ensures program quality, and drives donor engagement and resource acquisition to position WVE as a preferred partner for high‑impact programming.

Key responsibilities

• Lead donor engagement and resource mobilisation in close collaboration with the Resource Acquisition and Management (RAM) team.
• Develop and steward donor relationships, contribute to proposal design, and capture measurable funding contributions to the national portfolio.
• Manage and mentor Technical Specialists, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Support capacity building of local institutions (CBOs, FBOs, NGOs) to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Enforce resource stewardship, ensuring efficient utilisation and compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
• Lead the development, contextualisation and periodic review of sector strategy aligned with World Vision Ethiopia’s national strategy and global frameworks.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure evidence‑based, child‑focused program design.
• Represent WVE externally with donors, government, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical leadership within the humanitarian or development sector.
• Demonstrated ability to engage donors and secure funding.
• Strong mentorship and team‑building skills.
• Experience in capacity building of local partners and compliance monitoring.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
