Technical Manager – Production & Maintenance

About the role

Boortmalt is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the maintenance and engineering functions at its Debre Berhan site. You will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across all production processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage maintenance and repair of all production facilities, processes, and premises.
• Develop and lead a high‑performing technical team, set performance standards and deliver training.
• Implement and administer maintenance systems for process areas and bagging equipment.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, HSE policies and audit requirements.
• Evaluate operating systems, provide feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee engineering activities, KPI management and strive for best‑in‑industry standards.
• Lead technical projects, CAPEX/BOPEX planning and ensure delivery on time and within budget.
• Build and maintain a preventive maintenance plan, incorporating corrective actions.
• Manage technical equipment purchases and supplier evaluations.
• Lead the CMMS (Maximo) implementation, ensuring accurate documentation of all repairs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in industrial maintenance and engineering management.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing technical teams.
• In‑depth knowledge of HSE regulations and plant safety standards.
• Ability to evaluate and improve operating systems and processes.
• Experience managing large‑scale technical projects and budgets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
