Agricultural Engineer

About the role

The Development Bank of Ethiopia is seeking a full‑time Agricultural Engineer to support the technical appraisal and implementation of agricultural projects financed by the bank. Based in Ethiopia, you will work on‑site with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are technically sound, sustainable, and aligned with development objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate agricultural project proposals for technical feasibility.
• Design, review, and optimize irrigation systems to promote efficient water use.
• Analyze pest‑control strategies and recommend sustainable crop‑protection measures.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to clients and project teams throughout project lifecycles.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, monitoring plans, and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with credit and project appraisal units to integrate agricultural best practices into financing decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering or a closely related field (advanced degree is an asset).
• Experience in agricultural project appraisal, rural development, or work with financial/development institutions.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with Ethiopian agricultural contexts, local regulations, and environmental sustainability principles.
