Community Mobilizer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Community Mobilizer to support its mixed migration project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role focuses on engaging migrants, returnees, host communities and other people on the move, providing protection and legal information, and strengthening community participation along migration routes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular outreach sessions with migrants, returnees, host communities and other people on the move at targeted locations.
• Disseminate clear information on legal rights, protection services, case management, psychosocial support, civil documentation, safe migration pathways and risks of irregular migration.
• Support the Protection Team by preparing weekly/monthly reports and analysing vulnerable cases.
• Engage women, girls, persons with disabilities and other groups facing barriers to access information and services.
• Carry out risk‑assessment visits, coordinate referrals to partners, and advocate for in‑house services.
• Collect community feedback and communicate concerns to project and protection teams.
• Maintain relationships with implementing partners, community structures and local authorities.
• Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of community‑based protection structures and promote community‑led solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified candidate with experience in community mobilisation, protection and migration contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable populations, including women, youth and persons with disabilities.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
