Development Worker – TVET & Electronics (Addis Ababa)

About the role

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) seeks a Development Worker to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in electronics across Addis Ababa. You will support colleges, trainers and contractors to ensure functional equipment and market‑relevant curricula, contributing to Ethiopia’s green‑energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Assess functional standards of machines and training equipment at TVET colleges and advise on maintenance of malfunctioning assets.
• Develop short‑term, application‑oriented curricula for electronics topics such as energy, building electronics and operating technology.
• Supervise contractors on small construction projects linked to training facilities.
• Implement trainer‑maintenance programmes together with TVET instructors.
• Design and deliver further training measures for TVET trainers.
• Create innovative project courses and inclusive training formats for refugees and Ethiopian participants, aligned with labour‑market needs.

Required profile

• University degree related to TVET, renewable energy, electric mobility or similar fields (advanced qualification is a plus).
• Professional qualification in electronics or electricity.
• Proven experience in the TVET sector with a deep understanding of electronics.
• Interest or experience in renewable‑energy crafts and green technologies.
• Strong teamwork, networking, coordination and communication abilities.
• Sensitivity to gender equality, equity and inclusion.
• Business‑fluent English.
