Finance Assistant – Dessie

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the finance function of Save the Children International’s Semera Field office in Dessie. Working on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, you will ensure accurate processing of payments, cash handling and compliance with the organisation’s financial policies, especially during humanitarian emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments against verified supporting documents and obtain necessary approvals.
• Collect, record and safeguard cash advances, ensuring daily deposit of unused cash.
• Prepare and settle travel advances for staff based outside the office.
• Maintain proper filing, scanning and uploading of financial documents to the SCI Document Archiving System.
• Record all transactions in the GLACOS system on a daily basis.
• Apply government withholding tax where required and ensure all vouchers are pre‑numbered.

• Ability to work flexible hours, especially during major humanitarian emergencies.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills for accurate record‑keeping.
• Integrity in handling cash and confidential financial information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the GLACOS financial management system.
