About the role
The Financial Mathematics Scholar will conduct research on financial markets, risk analysis, and quantitative investment methods at EMPA in Addis Ababa. The position is on‑site and involves collaboration with researchers, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum development.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and analyze mathematical models for financial markets and pricing.
- Perform risk analysis and quantitative finance research.
- Prepare technical reports, academic papers and present findings at seminars or conferences.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Contribute to curriculum design and EMPA initiatives in financial mathematics.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Financial Mathematics or a closely related field.
- Strong foundation in quantitative disciplines and analytical reasoning.
- Experience or coursework in financial mathematics, quantitative finance or econometrics.
- Commitment to ethical research and interest in EMPA’s educational mission.
