Junior Process Focused Backend Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Process Focused Backend Developer to join our development team in Addis Ababa. Reporting to the technical lead, you will contribute to building backend services that support our business processes and help improve operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Implement assigned backend features, services, APIs and business logic under technical guidance.
• Translate approved requirements and technical specifications into clean, maintainable code.
• Develop simple database queries and data access components.
• Follow coding standards, secure development practices, version‑control procedures and development guidelines.
• Identify simple process improvement and automation opportunities.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, analysts and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of Java (solid fundamentals in Java 8, exposure to Java 17+ features is a plus).
• Basic to intermediate experience with Spring Boot, building REST controllers, services and repositories.
• Understanding of RESTful API concepts (HTTP methods, status codes, JSON payloads).
• Willingness to learn process/workflow concepts such as BPMN basics.
• Basic understanding of microservices concepts.
