Mathematics Teacher / Tutor (Contract)

About the role

Anchor Ethiopia is looking for a dedicated Mathematics Teacher/Tutor to join the Suki‑Mariam Children and Family Empowerment Project in Addis Ababa. The role focuses on delivering clear, engaging, and supportive mathematics instruction to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Key responsibilities

• Provide structured mathematics tutoring and remedial support for primary and secondary‑level learners.
• Develop weekly and monthly lesson plans, teaching materials, exercises, and assessments.
• Identify individual strengths and learning gaps, adapting instruction to meet each child’s needs.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and child‑friendly learning environment.
• Monitor attendance, participation, progress, and performance, maintaining accurate records.
• Submit periodic tutoring reports to the Director and communicate with project staff, parents, and schools as needed.
• Participate in project meetings, trainings, child‑protection activities, and other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.
• 3–5 years of teaching or tutoring experience, preferably at primary or secondary level.
• Demonstrated ability to teach mathematics clearly and patiently with a learner‑centered approach.
• Strong commitment to working with vulnerable children and adherence to child safeguarding standards.
• Excellent classroom‑management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English and Amharic.
