Monitoring Officer

About the role

The Monitoring Officer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Addis Ababa, supporting Akobo Minerals’ compliance, governance and performance‑monitoring activities. The position tracks and reviews financial, operational and ESG data, prepares monitoring reports and ensures timely documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Track and review financial, operational and ESG‑related data.
• Prepare regular monitoring reports for senior management and external parties.
• Conduct reviews of processes and internal controls to identify risks or irregularities.
• Support auditing and oversight activities, including evidence collection.
• Coordinate information flow between finance, operations and community‑relations teams.
• Facilitate internal communication and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Ethiopia and abroad to ensure transparency and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
• Solid foundation in finance, with experience in budgeting, financial tracking or reporting.
• Excellent communication skills for clear report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
• Interpersonal skills to work across departments and with community and regulatory bodies.
• Auditing or compliance experience, preferably within mining or industrial sectors.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, accounting or related field.
• Familiarity with ESG principles, regulatory requirements and corporate‑governance practices.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
