National Consultant – Thematic Report on Gender Equality & GBV

About the role

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) seeks a National Consultant to produce a Year‑One thematic report on gender equality and gender‑based violence (GBV) using the Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) 2024‑25 data. The assignment lasts 30 working days and supports evidence‑based policy, advocacy and programme design.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and prepare EDHS datasets, applying appropriate recode files, sampling weights and survey‑adjusted procedures.
• Conduct descriptive, comparative and advanced statistical analyses on gender equality and GBV indicators, accounting for complex survey design.
• Develop a comprehensive thematic report, two policy briefs, fact sheets and infographics aligned with UNFPA and ESS standards.
• Present findings to UNFPA, government counterparts and stakeholders, and support dissemination and uptake of results.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Gender Studies, Statistics, Demography, Public Health, Economics, Data Science or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of quantitative data analysis experience, including extensive work with EDHS/DHS datasets.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable.
