Senior Project Associate (Engineering) – Affiliated Contractor

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ethiopia seeks a Senior Project Associate (Engineering) to support the Reintegration sub‑unit of the Protection Unit. The role focuses on technical engineering and construction aspects of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programmes, ensuring safe, dignified return and sustainable livelihood opportunities for returnees.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering and construction expertise for AVRR projects, including design, procurement, and site supervision.
• Coordinate with government counterparts, service providers, and partners to implement protection‑sensitive reintegration activities.
• Monitor construction progress, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and prepare technical reports.
• Support budgeting, resource allocation, and logistical planning for construction components of reintegration programmes.
• Contribute to the development of community‑based reintegration approaches and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in project management and construction within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Familiarity with migration‑related programmes and protection‑sensitive interventions.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, NGOs, and local contractors.
