Team Lead – Stabilisation & Peacebuilding

About the role

Chemonics is seeking a senior Team Lead to oversee a multi‑year programme that supports civilian dialogue, locally led peacebuilding and the strengthening of Sudanese civil society organisations. The role is based in Addis Ababa with regular rotations to Port Sudan and travel across Sudan as security permits.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary interface with programme stakeholders, donors and financing partners.
• Represent the programme to diplomatic missions, regional actors and relevant coordination forums.
• Ensure alignment with adjacent donor and multilateral programming to avoid duplication.
• Own and periodically revise the programme strategy, theory of change and prioritisation framework.
• Lead a politically‑informed approach, ensuring funding decisions reflect the conflict dynamics and political economy.
• Convene consortium partners at re‑programming points and manage trigger‑based adaptations.
• Oversee grant‑making, assurance, accompaniment and learning functions for Sudanese civil society, community and diaspora organisations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in programme management, preferably in conflict‑affected or post‑conflict settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑partner consortia and manage senior stakeholder relationships.
• Strong understanding of Sudan’s political and security environment.
• Demonstrated capacity to develop and adapt strategic frameworks and theories of change.
• Willingness to travel frequently in challenging security conditions.
