About the role

Mekelle University is seeking a full‑time Assistant Professor in Food Science and Technology to join its faculty. The position is on‑site and involves teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, and scholarly research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and graduate lectures in food science and technology.
• Design, update, and assess curricula and course materials.
• Mentor and advise students on academic and research projects.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, university committees, and outreach initiatives.
• Conduct original research, publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals, and secure research funding.
• Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to academic publications.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching and lecturing abilities.
• Experience in curriculum development and educational planning.
• Strong research and academic writing background.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team‑oriented environment.
• Prior experience in higher education is advantageous.
