Clinical Nurse – Emergency Response

About the role
The Clinical Nurse provides life‑saving clinical and public‑health services to crisis‑affected populations as part of a multi‑sector emergency response project. Working in challenging environments, the nurse ensures timely diagnosis, treatment, referral and disease prevention for vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct outpatient consultations, diagnose and treat common and emergency illnesses following national and WHO guidelines.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and perform emergency interventions; triage and stabilize critically ill patients.
- Provide maternal, newborn and child health services, including ANC, PNC, basic obstetric care, immunizations and IMCI‑based child illness management.
- Screen, treat and refer malnutrition cases (SAM/MAM) and support nutrition programs.
- Participate in disease surveillance, outbreak reporting and community health education.
- Coordinate referrals, follow‑up care and liaise with ambulance services and health facilities.
- Deliver mobile health and nutrition services in hard‑to‑reach areas, adapting to insecure settings.
- Maintain accurate patient records, compile health reports and ensure data quality.
- Collaborate with health extension workers, local health offices and other humanitarian actors.
