Health & Nutrition Officer – Mobile Health & Nutrition (Moyale)

About the role

The Health & Nutrition Officer will lead the technical quality, implementation and delivery of mobile health and nutrition services in the assigned woreda. The role involves daily screening, OTP management, consultations, outreach immunisation, health education, sanitation, safe motherhood and child health activities according to Somali RHB guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Improve basic preventive health care at community level, focusing on immunisation, nutrition and health education.
• Conduct primary health care consultations and provide treatment following national protocols.
• Strengthen coordination between community health workers and woreda health bureaus, ensuring effective referral mechanisms.
• Plan and implement OTP and severe acute malnutrition (SAM) protocols, facilitating admission and follow‑up of patients.
• Train and support Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and community volunteers in case management, nutrition monitoring and data collection.
• Supervise daily drug and nutrition supply management, ensuring health posts are adequately stocked.
• Receive, verify and submit weekly reports from HEWs, providing mentorship on high‑risk cases.
• Follow up on absentees and defaulters, maintaining up‑to‑date beneficiary records.

Required profile

• BSc or College Diploma in Nursing or a related health field.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including at least two years with an NGO.
• Proven experience in nutrition and health programme implementation, data collection and training of health workers.
• Good written and spoken proficiency in the local language.
• Ability to work independently in remote or insecure environments.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
