National Consultant – Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies

About the role

The National Consultant will support UNICEF’s Child Protection Section in Tigray by leading the gender‑based violence (GBV) work stream during emergencies. This office‑based role includes travel to project sites and requires close coordination with the Child Protection Specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and contribute to the GBV work stream, providing technical inputs to ongoing programmes.
• Monitor programme performance and ensure quality control of results.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives, promote innovation and manage knowledge sharing.
• Advocate for GBV issues, build networks and establish partnerships.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in GBV in emergencies, preferably with a UN agency.
• Field experience managing GBV projects.
• Fluency in written and oral English.
• Proficiency in Tigrigna (local language) is required.
