Remote Level I Trauma Registrar – Full‑time or Part‑time

About the role

This position provides advanced clinical data abstraction for a Level I Trauma Center, supporting state and national registry participation, research, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. The role is fully remote and can be performed on a full‑time or part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and abstract comprehensive trauma patient data from EHRs, operative reports, EMS documentation, and ancillary systems.
• Enter detailed injury and care information into the trauma registry database, capturing mechanism of injury, severity, interventions, complications, and outcomes.
• Assign Injury Severity Scores using AIS methodology and code diagnoses and procedures with ICD‑10‑CM and ICD‑10‑PCS.
• Perform data validation, audits, and discrepancy resolution to prepare for ACS verification or state review.
• Collaborate with trauma program leadership, performance‑improvement teams, and clinical staff to clarify documentation.

Required profile

• Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center.
• Advanced understanding of trauma systems, injury scoring, and registry rules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong clinical documentation interpretation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Required skills

• AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale) coding.
• ICD‑10‑CM and ICD‑10‑PCS coding.
• Trauma registry data abstraction and entry.
• EHR data extraction and documentation review.
