WatHab WaSH Project Officer

About the role

The WatHab WaSH Project Officer will support the Nekemte Urban Water Supply Project, ensuring that small to medium‑sized water infrastructure initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Working under guidance, the officer will assist in planning, designing, procuring, implementing and commissioning project components while maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to feasibility studies, project proposals, technical designs, specifications, drawings, BoQs and cost estimates.
• Support the preparation and review of project documents for approval.
• Assist in procurement processes, including drafting tender documents, RFQs, RFPs, ToRs and contracts.
• Coordinate with logistics and finance teams to ensure timely processing of procurements and payments.
• Organise and supervise construction and rehabilitation works, monitoring contractor performance.
• Maintain professional communication with local authorities, water utilities, contractors, consultants, suppliers and community representatives.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in engineering, water resources, project management or a related field.
• Experience in project planning, design and implementation of water supply or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with procurement procedures and contract management in an international humanitarian context.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and to report accurately on project progress.
