About the role

The Chief of Section, Finance and Budget is a temporary senior position within the Finance and Budget Section (FBS) of the Administration and Conference Management Division (ACMD) at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The role supports ECA’s mission to deliver ideas and actions for an empowered and transformed Africa, guided by the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Finance and Budget Section.
• Report to the Director of ACMD.
• Ensure financial and budgeting activities align with ECA’s strategic directions.
• Contribute to the development of macro‑economic and structural policy options.
• Support innovative financing models for infrastructure and social assets.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in finance and budgeting within an international or multilateral environment.
• Ability to work within a UN system and adhere to its financial rules.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
