ICLA and Protection Coordinator

About the role

The ICLA and Protection Coordinator will lead the implementation of Protection from Violence and ICLA activities across multiple regions in Ethiopia, ensuring high‑quality technical delivery and compliance with NRC policies.

Key responsibilities

• Line‑manage protection field staff and oversee project budgets, documentation and reporting.
• Develop and implement protection and ICLA strategies, proposals and cash‑based or market‑based interventions.
• Coordinate civilian self‑protection activities, maintain work and expenditure plans, and produce analytical reports.
• Recruit, supervise, coach and appraise project staff, and conduct regular field visits for technical support.
• Represent NRC in humanitarian coordination structures and liaise with local authorities and partners.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in humanitarian project implementation, preferably in complex, volatile contexts.
• Demonstrated expertise in protection and ICLA programming, including risk‑reduction and civilian self‑protection.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work across cultural environments.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal); knowledge of Tigrigna is an advantage.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of protection risk reduction and civilian self‑protection programming.
• Experience with protection data management and data‑protection standards.
• Capacity‑building and training delivery on protection topics.
• Internal and external coordination and representation of programmes.
