Information Management Officer – Protection

About the role

The Protection Information Management Officer will support the quality of protection‑related data across DRC Ethiopia’s projects. Reporting to the Program Development and Quality Manager, the role focuses on collecting, analysing and sharing sensitive information in line with professional protection standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain DRC Ethiopia’s protection database and MEAL information management systems.
• Roll out standardized protection databases, including case management and monitoring tools.
• Ensure data security through strict handling protocols, weekly backups and recovery controls.
• Create and maintain an inventory of humanitarian situation documents such as mission reports and assessments.
• Process, compile and disseminate data for internal and external protection reports, briefings and analyses.
• Support the Protection Specialist in maintaining and developing KOBO forms and ActivityInfo tools.
• Design data collection tools for protection and MEAL teams using Kobo Toolbox and ActivityInfo.
• Lead the adoption of data analytics and visualisation using Advanced Excel, Power BI and Tableau.

Required profile

• Experience in information management within protection or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong understanding of data confidentiality, security protocols and backup procedures.
• Ability to work closely with field teams to improve data quality and reporting.
• Under supervision of the Program Development and Quality Manager.
