Qualified Consultant Positions – Trade, Standards, SPS, SME & MEL Experts

About the role

We are seeking highly qualified consultants to provide expert technical assistance on trade‑related reforms, standards and quality infrastructure, sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) systems, SME export competitiveness, and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) for a donor‑funded programme in Ethiopia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multi‑stakeholder projects, ensuring alignment between government, private sector and development partners.
• Design and implement standards harmonisation, accreditation and conformity assessment frameworks.
• Develop and assess SPS policies, inspection systems and digital traceability tools.
• Support SME exporters through certification schemes, market diagnostics and value‑chain linkage activities.
• Establish and manage results‑based M&E systems, including data collection, analysis and reporting.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in a relevant field such as international trade, economics, industrial engineering, plant health, agribusiness, statistics or related disciplines.
• Minimum 7–15 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in senior roles managing technical assistance projects in Africa.
• Proven track record in leading national or regional trade reform, standards, SPS or SME export initiatives.
• Familiarity with donor‑funded programmes (e.g., AFD, EU, World Bank) and results‑based management.
