Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

The Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the WWTP and related utilities. The role ensures uninterrupted water supply to production while complying with Heineken safety, food safety and sustainability standards. The operator works on‑site, monitors equipment performance and drives continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and control WWTP equipment to maintain optimal performance and resource supply.
• Perform technical checks such as vibration monitoring, pressure checks, blow‑downs and lubrication.
• Maintain readiness of standby equipment, clean parts and tools, and manage work permits.
• Conduct laboratory analyses on utilities and wastewater streams and record results.
• Identify anomalies, tag issues, and initiate corrective actions using digital tools.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance according to SOPs and the planned maintenance schedule.
• Capture and interpret performance data, apply ECRS and 5S methodologies, and lead improvement projects.
• Coach and train shift operators, and cover the utilities manager or team‑lead role when required.
• Create and manage maintenance work requests in the CMMS and validate repairs.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating a wastewater treatment plant or similar utilities environment.
• Ability to conduct laboratory analyses and interpret data.
• Strong knowledge of safety, food safety and sustainability standards.
• Capability to manage work permits, handovers and documentation.
• Experience coaching operators and leading improvement teams.
