Clinician Consultant – AI Validation & Training (Ethiopia)

About the role

Last Mile Health is seeking a medical doctor to serve as the clinical anchor for the HEP Assist AI project in Ethiopia. The Clinician Consultant will act as the human‑in‑the‑loop, training, validating, and monitoring AI outputs to ensure safe, evidence‑based care for Health Extension Workers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct retrospective clinical reviews of AI‑generated responses and approve, edit, or reject them.
• Design, train, and refine the HEP Assist AI to generate follow‑up questions and tailored clinical advice.
• Monitor live audio/text streams for clinical errors and provide real‑time feedback to supervisors.
• Maintain the AI dashboard, track performance, and ensure risk‑based quality assurance.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD) with clinical experience in community and primary health care.
• Deep knowledge of Ethiopia’s Health Extension Program and the scope of Health Extension Workers.
• Fluency in Amharic and/or Afaan Oromo for accurate clinical transcription and translation.
• Specialist training in Pediatrics or Gynecology/Obstetrics is a plus.

Required skills

• Understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and large language models.
• Experience mapping clinical guidelines into decision trees or workflows.
• High technological fluency with digital health dashboards and software interfaces.
