Deputy General Manager – Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Deputy General Manager – Operations to partner with the General Manager in steering the manufacturing and business operations of a leading Ethiopian industrial company. The role focuses on boosting productivity, profitability and operational efficiency across production, supply chain, procurement, logistics and sales functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operational activities and ensure alignment with approved plans, policies and procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency and profitability, providing regular performance reports to the General Manager.
• Oversee manufacturing and plant operations to meet production and quality targets, managing resources and removing bottlenecks.
• Support strategic and annual operational planning, budgeting and translation of corporate strategy into actionable plans.
• Coordinate procurement, import, warehousing, logistics and sales to guarantee timely availability of raw materials and equipment.
• Lead operational projects and business development initiatives, ensuring proper planning, resourcing and stakeholder coordination.
• Provide leadership to operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in manufacturing and factory operations, preferably in textile, glass or other large‑scale industrial sectors.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive operational excellence.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
