Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Maintenance Engineer will provide hands‑on technical support and maintenance for Chrysos PhotonAssay™ systems at the Kurmuk Gold Project in western Ethiopia. Working closely with the local team and remote Chrysos experts, you will ensure high equipment availability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Providing on‑site and remote technical support for PhotonAssay™ systems, escalating issues to Chrysos teams and technology partners.
• Conducting safety risk assessments (JHAs, Take‑5s) before work.
• Training customers on safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Managing spares inventory for the site.
• Performing preventive maintenance and reporting to customers.
• Supporting installation and commissioning of new systems.
• Maintaining accurate fault records and assisting with root‑cause analysis.
• Carrying out radiation safety and compliance duties.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in electrical, electronic, mechanical or mechatronic engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining complex technical equipment.
• Strong customer‑service mindset and problem‑solving ability.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally, including remote mine sites.
• Ability to perform a wide range of tasks beyond the core role.
• Excellent written English communication skills.
