Director of Finance and Operations

About the role

The Director, Finance and Operations will lead Palladium’s Ethiopia portfolio, providing strategic oversight of finance, operations, procurement, human resources, administration, compliance and risk management. Reporting directly to the Country Director, the role ensures financial stewardship, operational excellence and regulatory compliance while supporting the delivery of health‑system strengthening projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial policies, budgeting, forecasting and reporting for all Ethiopia projects.
• Oversee procurement processes, contract management and supply‑chain activities to ensure value for money.
• Lead human‑resources functions including recruitment, payroll, performance management and staff development.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, donor requirements and internal risk‑management frameworks.
• Coordinate with project teams to align operational plans with strategic objectives and monitor performance indicators.
• Prepare financial statements, audit documentation and provide insights to senior leadership.
• Manage relationships with government agencies, donors and partners to support transparent financial practices.
• Travel periodically to project sites and regional offices within Ethiopia.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance and operations, preferably in international development or consulting.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and experience reporting to senior executives.
• Strong knowledge of public financial management, procurement regulations and compliance standards.
• Eligibility to work in Ethiopia without visa sponsorship.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
