About the role

The Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Innovation provides senior technical and operational leadership for the Americal First Global Health Strategy Global Health Security Division and Supply Chain Strengthening projects in Ethiopia. Reporting to the Senior Director, the role translates MEL and innovation strategies into practical systems, tools, and processes that drive data quality, analysis, and project performance across supply chain and TB work streams.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day implementation and continuous improvement of an integrated MEL and Innovation work plan, coordinating indicators, tools, SOPs, and reporting calendars.
  • Manage the full milestone and indicator cycle, from definition through evidence validation, analysis, and donor reporting.
  • Operationalize data quality assurance frameworks, oversee digital data flows, and conduct quantitative, qualitative, and geospatial analyses.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale new MEL‑related tools and AI‑assisted workflows while ensuring data protection and reproducibility.
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team of ~14 staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and capacity‑building.

Required profile

  • Master’s degree in MEL, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health informatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in MEL, research, analytics, digital health, or health‑systems innovation, preferably with USG‑funded projects.
  • Proven ability to operationalize MEL strategies for large donor‑funded health programs and to lead multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience in TB programs, public‑health supply chains, or health‑systems strengthening in Ethiopia or similar decentralized settings.
  • Professional fluency in English; Amharic or another Ethiopian language strongly preferred.
