Field Finance Officer

About the role

The Field Finance Officer ensures accurate financial management for field‑based projects, supporting program delivery through sound accounting, budgeting, and reporting. Success in this position means financial records are reliable, payments are processed on time, and donors receive compliant reports.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records, coding each transaction by project, activity, and cost category.
• Prepare payment vouchers, verify supporting documents, and manage petty cash and bank transactions.
• Perform regular cash and bank reconciliations and ensure audit‑ready filing systems.
• Track expenditures against approved budgets, analyse variances, and support budget adjustments.
• Assist in preparing monthly and periodic financial reports and donor‑specific financial submissions.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and pension obligations and support internal and external audits.
• Coordinate with program and procurement teams to guarantee proper documentation and promote transparency and accountability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–5 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in NGOs or donor‑funded projects.
• Field‑level finance experience is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to meet deadlines in challenging environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced functions, formulas, and data analysis).
• Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems.
