Head of Operations – Ethiopia

About the role

The Head of Operations (HoO) is a senior member of People in Need’s country programme management team in Ethiopia. Reporting to the Country Director and supervised technically by the Regional Head of Systems and Operations, the HoO ensures that logistics and procurement functions support the effective delivery of the programme.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Country Director in strategic decision‑making and represent People in Need to authorities, donors and partners.
• Ensure that operational systems and procedures are transparent, compliant with donor rules and aligned with the programme strategy.
• Lead and develop the Logistics team, manage logistics budgets, oversee asset registry, inventory control and fleet planning.
• Implement anti‑corruption oversight mechanisms within logistics operations.
• Lead and develop the Procurement team, ensure procurement processes meet donor and organisational standards.
• Maintain adequate staffing levels across supervised departments to achieve efficient programme delivery.

Required profile

• Proven senior management experience in logistics, procurement or operations, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work in a complex, multi‑partner environment and travel regularly to field offices.
