Health Manager – Immunization, Health Systems & Emergencies (P-4)

About the role

UNICEF Ethiopia is seeking a highly qualified health professional to lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of its health programme, focusing on immunisation, primary health care, health‑system strengthening and emergency preparedness across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for health programme development, planning and delivery.
• Monitor and evaluate programme performance, ensuring results are reported and used for continuous improvement.
• Advise and support government counterparts, donors and implementing partners on immunisation, PHC and health‑emergency coordination.
• Promote partnership building, advocacy and knowledge management to reach underserved and crisis‑affected populations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in public health, global health, epidemiology or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in public‑health programme planning and management, with expertise in health‑system strengthening, immunisation, primary health care or health‑emergency response.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or local language is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to work in decentralized, fragile and emergency‑prone contexts, preferably in Ethiopia.

Required skills

• Strong expertise in primary health care and routine immunisation.
• Ability to analyse surveillance, epidemiological data and immunisation coverage trends.
• Experience with health‑programme management, donor coordination and strategic communication.
